What to Expect at a Meeting With an Insurance Sales Agent

Not sure what happens during a one-on-one insurance meeting? We’re here to make it simple.

Meeting with an insurance agent gives you an opportunity to ask questions, learn about your coverage options, and better understand how different plans may work for your individual needs. You are never required to enroll in a plan simply because you requested a meeting.

🗣️ We’ll Start With You

We’ll take time to understand what matters to you. Depending on your situation, we may discuss things such as:

  • Your current Medicare coverage
  • Your doctors and preferred healthcare providers
  • Prescription medications you take
  • Your preferred pharmacies
  • Monthly premiums and other out-of-pocket costs
  • Copays, deductibles, and other plan costs
  • Dental, vision, hearing, and other available benefits
  • Hospital and specialist coverage
  • Travel or out-of-area healthcare needs
  • Changes to your current plan for the upcoming year

📋 We’ll Review Your Options

Based on the type of meeting you request, a licensed insurance agent can provide information about the Medicare plans and insurance products you have agreed to discuss. This may include plan materials, benefit information, costs, networks, prescription coverage, and other important details.

We can help you understand the differences between your options and answer your questions so you can make an informed decision.

💬 Bring Your Questions!

There is no such thing as a silly insurance question. We encourage you to ask about anything you don’t understand.

Some helpful questions to bring:

  • Will my doctors and specialists be in-network?
  • Are my prescriptions covered?
  • What will I pay for my medications?
  • What are my copays and other out-of-pocket costs?
  • What happens if I need to see a specialist?
  • Are dental, vision, or hearing benefits included?
  • What changes are being made to my current plan?
  • What happens if I don’t make a change?

📄 What Should I Bring?

If you have them available, bringing the following information can make your meeting more productive:

✓ Your Medicare card
✓ Your current insurance plan information
✓ A list of your prescription medications
✓ Names of your doctors and specialists
✓ Your preferred pharmacy
✓ Any questions or concerns about your current coverage

Medicare notes that having your Medicare number and Part A and Part B coverage dates can be helpful when you’re ready to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan.

❤️ You Don’t Have to Make a Decision That Day

Our goal is to help you understand your options. You should never feel pressured to enroll. Medicare’s rules prohibit agents from pressuring someone to join a plan or asking them to sign an enrollment form before they’re ready.

If you decide that you want to enroll, we can help you complete the enrollment process. If you need more time to think about it, that’s okay too.
